DIY or Hire a pro?

I was scrolling through Facebook and came across a bride that was selling her wedding day makeup.

This made me wonder, why would someone who doesn't typically wear makeup, shell out $400 on products she'll never use again? Perhaps this was to be shared among her bridal party, but even that raises some serious sanitary concerns.

The average bridal makeup package in my market is less than half the cost of these discarded products, and this includes a bridal trial! To further illustrate my point you could likely pay for bridal makeup plus your mother's and a bridesmaid's for the same cost.

Comparing product cost alone, consider what you gain by hiring a professional makeup artist.

  • They bring their own kit of tried and true professional products
  • Apply your bridal makeup at your convenience
  • Create a stress free experience
  • Ensure you look absolutely your best in professional photography
  • Makeup applied is built for longevity well into the night

I know many makeup artists who have gotten married and are perfectly capable of doing their own wedding day makeup, but understand the extra time and stress that it can add to the day and hired a makeup artist for themselves.

When a bride sits in my chair, she can breathe. She closes her eyes and has a moment to herself where she's not answering questions, not concerned with details, she can be in her own thoughts or simply space off to how amazing the rest of the day is going to be and she won't have to fret over applying her makeup.
